George E. “Eddie” Seastrunk, Sr., 87, of Columbia, died on Saturday, February 12, 2022. He was born on August 29, 1934, in Winchester, VA. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Mr. Seastrunk was a graduate of Newberry College and spent his career in the family business, Seastrunk Electric. He was an active member of the Columbia Jaycees, Mechanical Contractors Association and founding member of the Columbia Electrical Council which mentored young adults to learn the electrical trade. Additionally, he enjoyed his membership at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Palmetto “A’s” club. He was passionate about Vintage Cars, and happy to have restored a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster from the “ground up”. He leaves behind his son, G. Edwin Seastrunk, Jr., of Columbia; daughter, Sonya Jenkinson, of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Cole David Jenkinson and Cross Broughton Jenkinson; as well as his brothers, Rev. Ret. Lt. Col. Charles E. Seastrunk, Jr. (Sarah) and Robert E. Seastrunk; and his sister, Mary Anne Jacobs. The family would like to acknowledge Vernetha Wannamaker for her dedication and devotion to our family for so many years. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock, Tuesday, February 15th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Following a private burial at Elmwood Cemetery, a public memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 16th, at 2:30 o’clock at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1715 Bull Street, Columbia. The Rev. Dr. Tony A. Metze will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newberry College, C/O the C.E. and Louise Seastrunk, Sr. Scholarship Fund, 2100 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108-9975.
