A private family service will be held for G. Frank Lundy, Jr. at Shandon United Methodist Church, Columbia, South Carolina. Frank passed away on April 29, 2022, surrounded by his family. Frank was born in Denmark, South Carolina on September 20, 1934. He is predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth Bridgers Lundy and G. Frank Lundy, Sr.; and his sisters, Betty Appleby and Millie Smoak. Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Adeline Hite Lundy; his children: Frank Milton (Patty) Lundy and Logan Lundy (Tim) Camp; his grandchildren: Shaw (Sydney) Camp, Lundy Camp, Mencken Camp, Adeline Lundy and Worth Lundy; and a highly anticipated great grandson. Frank is lovingly referred to as “Daka” thanks to the first grandchild, Shaw Camp. Daka was so proud of all his grandchildren and has left a mighty legacy in them. Frank was a former deacon at First Baptist Church of Columbia, South Carolina. In 1986, he and Adeline joined Shandon United Methodist Church and enjoyed being members of the Joy Sunday School class. For many years, he shared his love of music by singing in the choirs at First Baptist Church and Shandon United Methodist Church. Frank graduated from Denmark High School in 1957 then continued his studies at Clemson A&M where he received his degree in Architecture. In 1988, Frank’s Clemson uniform was chosen to be placed in the centennial time capsule buried on the grounds of Clemson University. As a member of the South Carolina Air National Guard, Frank served in Spain during the Berlin Crisis. He was president of Frank Lundy Architect and Associates. Frank started the state education program at Midlands Technical College in Architecture. He was President of the Columbia Counsel of Architects, Sertoma Club member, Toast Masters member, AIA member, Board of Directors for the River Alliance, senior member of Forest Lake Club, founding member of South Carolina Debutante Ball, Seraband Dance Club member and a lifetime member of the Denmark Country Club. Outside of his family and church, Frank found great joy and comfort surrounded by the Edisto River at Denmark Country Club. He loved telling stories of his childhood on the river and was proud to continue sharing moments down there with dear friends and family. The family will receive friends and family at the home of Patty and Frank Lundy at 3808 Kilbourne Hill Road, Columbia, South Carolina from 3-5 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shandon United Methodist Church, 3407 Devine St, Columbia, SC 29205 or Hammond School, 854 Galway Ln, Columbia, SC 29209.
