    Mrs. Jacqueline P. Lee

    August 30, 1938 - January 8, 2022

Our precious mama, Jacqueline Polson Lee, 83, of Elgin, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022. The daughter of the late Charles Lowman Polson and Norah Tidwell Polson, Jackie grew up between the family farm and the Baptist church. She devoted her life to her children and all other children that crossed her path. (With a homemade pan of biscuits, mama could dry a tear and share a solution to any problem.) A talented soprano and gifted homemaker, Jackie’s days were filled with people, music, cooking, laughter, and prayer (not always in that order). When her husband created and directed the Christian musical group, The Tellers, Jackie became a traveling “Mom” and spiritual guide to many high school and college students over a span of thirteen years. Jackie retired from her work with the Department of Mental Health at Morris Village Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center as Registrar. Mama was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Jackie is survived by her children, Ernest R. Lee, Melinda F. Lee, Marie L. Hudgins, and William J. (Maria) Lee; grandchildren, Alexandria F. (Alex) Maish, Khristina F. (Bernard) Kennedy, Jonathan M. (Lesleigh) Lee, and W. Ayden Lee; great-grandchildren Astra L. Kennedy, Layla J-M Kennedy, and William M. Lee; siblings, Frances P. Griswold and Franklin “Buster” (Brenda) Polson; sisters-in-law, Margarette S. Polson and Mary G. “Bobbie” Polson, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Lee; siblings, Stella P. Pritchard, Bernice Polson, John Woodrow Polson, Charles Lowman Polson, Jr., Alvo Willis Polson, Martha P. Maddox, John Leo Polson and Barbara P. Horton. A memorial service will be held 12 o’clock, Friday, January 14, 2022, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
