    Mr. James Allen Carder, Sr.

    August 11, 1951 - January 25, 2022

    James “Jim” Allen Carder, Sr., 70, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Born August 11, 1951, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Homer W. and Lina Rowe Carder. Jim was a US Marine Corps veteran that proudly served his country from 1970-1974. He retired from US Civil Service at Fort Jackson. Jim was previously employed by Cablevision, Richland County E911, and the South Carolina Department of Revenue. He also owned and operated his landscape company, Grass Cutters by Carder. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim will always be known as “Mr. Fix It” by his family. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Hidelisa "Hilda" T. Carder; sons, James Allen Carder, I (Letha) of Melbourne, FL and Rodney Carder (Tiffany) of Columbia; grandchildren, Alexia (Alex), James, II, Jaiden, Jorge, Isabella, Landon, and Renesmee; brothers, Homer Carder, Gene Carder (Nancy), and Lamar Carder; nephew, Ed Mizzel; as well as nieces, Stephanie Mizzel Shultz (Alex) and kids, Erika Huggins (Will) and kids, Valerie Vallie (Matt) and kids of Atlanta, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred Raymond Rowe, Sr.. The memorial service for Jim will be held at 4 o'clock Saturday, January 29th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 3 o'clock.
