Mildred “Millie” Bookhart, also known as Mimi, a beloved mother and lifelong resident of Columbia, SC was born on August 14, 1938, earned her wings on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the age of 82. She is survived by her three daughters Susan Cavallier, Bonnie Peipman, Patty Dockens; son-in-law, Chris Cavallier, Sr; grandson, Christopher Cavallier, Jr.; nieces, Joyce Bell, Sarah Cathy Walker, Peggy Love, Thelma Beckham, Kay Nates, Linda Antley; and nephew, Sammy Bookhart. She will be joining her mother, Mrs. Viola Champy Bookhart; father, Carl Lyle Benton; sisters, Fannie Mae Nates, Ruth Barton, Mary Collins; brother, Joe Champy; nieces, Libby Barnwell, and Diane Cumbee, who all greeted her at heavens’ gates. Ms. Millie was a homemaker for most of her life and for the last 15 years of her Golden Age, she was cared for by Towana Caldwell and her staff, Hunter Caldwell, Ma Pat, and Mrs. Edge to name a few. She loved playing the keyboard, rock and roll music, singing, dancing, drawing pictures and coloring. Ms. Millie was a big flirt who had an infectious laugh that would fill your heart with happiness and joy. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. She will live on through our hearts till we see her again. A celebration of Ms. Millie’s life will be held at 11:30 o’clock, Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o’clock at the funeral home. All are invited to attend; however, masks are encouraged, and social distancing is enforced to maintain a safe environment for all.
