Miriam J. Brunson, 92, of Columbia, died on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Born May 13, 1929, in New Zion, SC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. Johnson and Maude Burns Johnson.
A loving and giving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Ms. Miriam was of strong faith, a true woman of God. She was a charter member of Capital City Baptist Church and loved being a member of the Valley Voices Choir at Spring Valley Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ellen Attaway (Clint), Sandra Powell (Steve), Ed "Bud" Brunson, Jr. (Cindy), Don Brunson (Leslie); grandchildren, Sherryl, Brian (Kendra), Melissa, Shannon, Kristin (Josh), Trey (Kelli), Josh, Melody (Jason), Eric, Johnny, Haley; great grandchildren, Emma, Logan, Elora, Julian, Carson C, Katherine, Cayden, Jacob, Micayla (Dylan), and Carson R; brother, Joseph "Duck" B. Johnson (Vivian); along with numerous loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward D. Brunson, Sr.; grandson, Kevin; and siblings, Odessa, E.B., Johnny, and Lib.
A funeral service for Mrs. Brunson will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday, January 3, 2022, at Capital City Baptist Church with The Rev. Paul Monroe and The Rev. Bryan Hunt officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock.
