Randy Eugene Newton, 71, of Columbia, died Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Born March 28, 1951, in Hickory, NC, he was the son of the late Lowell Lewis Newton and Shirley Adeline Moretz Newton. Mr. Newton was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a maintenance supervisor at the University of South Carolina. Mr. Newton was considered a “Jack of All Trades” by everyone who knew him. He was a very skilled carpenter and enjoyed tinkering on items. He loved being outdoors, especially when he had the opportunity to go fishing. Mr. Newton’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his entire family. He cherished every moment with them, and they will greatly miss his presence in their lives. Survivors include his stepchildren, Ann Brazell Rashleigh of Columbia, Doris Brazell Jacques (Bruce) of Prosperity, and Larry Dean Brazell (Sandi) of Prosperity; grandchildren, Kevin Joye, Noelle Joye, Drew Williamson, Carrie Byrd (Steven), Leiah Jacques (John Burchett), McKenzie Costner (Allen), and Zoey Brazell; great grandchildren, Bryson Joye, Lynzie Joye-Serdoz, Kayla Joye- Serdoz, Natalie Williamson, Grady Byrd, Adalyn Byrd, Landon Burchett, Marilyn Burchett, Peyton Costner, and Cannon Costner; as well as his companion, Linda Hoglen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosea Carolyn Sellers Newton. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Sunday, April 3rd at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. A private graveside service for Mr. Newton will be held at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. Memorials may be sent to the Susan G.
