Mrs. Shirley Mock Boykin

Shirley Mock Boykin, wife to the late Raymond Boykin, died peacefully Sunday, April 24, 2022, after a long and full life, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Walter and Onie Mock on May 16, 1934, in St. Marks, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents and three siblings. She is survived by her children; Richard Tooke (Sue) of Crawfordville, Florida, Phillip Tooke of St. Marks, Florida and Susan Lutz (George) of Chapin, South Carolina. She is also survived by the loves of her life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was affectionately called “Gag” by her grandchildren. Her grandchildren; Lindsey Perez (Andy), Olivia Tooke, George Lutz, Jr., Scarlet Kasperbauer (Mike), Jacob Lutz (April), Jordan Lutz (Traci), Victoria Deloach (Elijah), Juleah Lutz and Jeremiah Lutz. Her great grandchildren include; Leland Perez, Andi Lynn Perez, Bailey Lutz, Michael Kasperbauer, Jr., Brianna Kasperbauer, Jody Ray Miles, Jackson Day, Remington Lutz, Memphis Lutz, Annabelle Lutz and Jordan Lee Lutz. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She had numerous nieces and nephews with extended family in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. All of whom will fondly remember all the wonderful memories and time spent together. She was a graduate of Crawfordville High School. In 1968, Shirley moved with her husband and children to Columbia, South Carolina where she has been a long-time resident. She was a member of Sawneys Creek Baptist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed by Bruns Monumental Company for many years before retirement to enjoy more time with her family. Shirley enjoyed time spent with her family vacationing and road trips. She also enjoyed late night phone calls with her best friend, shopping sprees with her granddaughters, fishing with her grandsons and buffets with her in-laws. She could be stubborn, ornery and very bossy but she loved her family fiercely. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice nurses and caregivers of Lutheran Hospice as well as the nurses and staff who cared for her at the senior home during Shirley’s final days. A celebration of life will be held at 1 o’clock on Friday, April 29th, at Shives Funeral Home – Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29223. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12 o’clock. Interment will follow on Monday, May 2nd, at the White Church Cemetery in Woodville, Florida.
