Obituary

Albert "A.D." Daniel Phillips, 91, of Lexington, SC, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Born on November 22, 1933, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Mattie Phillips Gunter and Bill Gunter. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Phillips was the owner of Three Fountains Skating Rink in West Columbia and All Climate Heating and Cooling in Lexington. He was a founding member of Chapel of Redemption in Lexington, where he served the church in many capacities including Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Phillips was also a Mason and a Shriner.

He was a devoted husband of Leone "Oney" May Smith Phillips, and they were married for 69 years, seven months, and two days. They met as young adults at the skating rink and the rest was history. Their legacy includes three children, Steven "Steve" Daniel Phillips (Debbie) of West Columbia, Duston "Dusty" Howard Phillips, Sr. (Charisse) of Lexington, Laraine "Rainie" Phillips Wieder (Don) of Lexington; six grandchildren, Stephanie Ambrose (Ryan), Duston Phillips, Jr., Kyle Phillips, Avery Wieder, Parker Wieder, Hayden Wieder, and a great grandchild, Addy Ambrose. Mr. Phillips also leaves behind three living siblings as well as numerous nieces and nephews . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings.

The service honoring Mr. Phillips life will be held at 3 o'clock, Thursday, December 12th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Chapel, Columbia, SC. The family will receive guests following the service.

A private burial will be held at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29204.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Lisa, Celeste, and the staff of First Light of Columbia, also the staff members of Wellmore Memory Care, Carroll Campbell Place, and Amedisys Hospice for their devoted care of Mr. Phillips over the last four and a half years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Carroll Campbell Place for Alzheimer's Care, 802 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
