Mr. Albert G. Murphy, 86, of Columbia, was called home to heaven on Friday, October 7, 2022. Born in West Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late George Erasmus and Adelle Spires Murphy and married to Sara Keels for 65 years. Mr. Murphy worked as an electrician and a salesman of HVAC systems for Honeywell.

He was a loving husband, father, papa, and friend. He was an active member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church. His life reflected the love of Christ to everyone around him. Above all else, he was a faithful servant of Jesus. His family is certain that he is at rest with our heavenly father.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gordon Murphy (Lori Robbins-Murphy), Cathy Locklear (Eric); grandchildren, Travis Robbins-Murphy, Dewey Wright, Sara Young, Leland Robbins-Murphy, Molly Robbins-Murphy, Emily Kinard, Amanda Locklear, Matthew Locklear; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard "Dickie" Murphy. Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by his four brothers and sisters.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:30 in the afternoon on Sunday, October 9th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30pm prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
