Alice Brasington Jones, 76, of Columbia, died January 14, 2016. Born in Camden, SC, on April 30, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Annie Mae Ray Brasington. Alice moved to Columbia in 1950, and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1957. That same year, she married George F. Jones, Jr. She taught preschool at Riverland Hills Baptist Church for 18 years, and later worked at the USC Career Center from which she retired in 2011.

Alice is survived by her children, Joni (David) Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, Jann (Philip) Fisher of Waynesville, NC, and Jason Jones of Elgin; grandchildren, Josh (Kelsie), Zack, and Luke Smith, Graham and Peyton Fisher, Vivien, Ava, and Knox Jones; sisters, Joyce B. Wise and Bobbie B. (Sonny) Jones, all of Columbia, and Julie B. (Don) Martin of Blythewood; a brother, Frank (Jill) Brasington of Gilbert; and aunts, Polly Gunter, and Betty Hall. In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by nephew, Troy Jones; special aunt, Janie Ray; and by her beloved mother-in-law, Mattie Jones.

A service for Mrs. Jones will be held two o'clock, Monday, January 18th, at Killian Baptist Church, with Dr. E. Benjamin Newman, Jr., The Rev. Richard A. Humphries, The Rev. James A. Goudelock, and Dr. Larry Salters officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at one o'clock.
