Alma Yaneth Hernandez Monroy, 56, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Born October 17, 1966, in Santa Rosa Las Flores, Guatemala, she was the daughter of the late Luis Hernandez and Narcisa Monroy.

Alma Hernandez was mostly known by "China". She loved taking care of her plants, always willing to help anyone, taking care of her family and loved ones. She loved listening to gospel music on her free times. She had so much love for kids that she baby sited kids for almost 16 years. She enjoyed going on vacations with the whole family. She was a member of the First Hispanic Baptist Church for over 20 years. She had such a charming soul that she was loved by a lot of people. A few words that would describe her would be lovable, kind, generous, and caring.

Survivors include her husband, Luis Zuniga; children, Kevin Zuniga (Stephanie), Karla Coronado, and Agusto Osorio; siblings, Jose Luis, Sara, Yolanda, Noemi, and Rosa; father and mother-in-law, Nestor and Olivia Zuniga; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hernandez will be held at 12 o'clock noon, Saturday, January 28th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Friday at the funeral home.

The burial will take place in Cementerio General de Morales in Izabal, Guatemala.
