Obituary

Mrs. Alta Blume Seaber, 87, of Blythewood, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Sanders Blume and the late Ruth Chappell Blume. She attended Winthrop College and University of South Carolina. She retired after many years from Richland District One School Food Service. Mrs. Seaber was a longtime, dedicated member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, where she used her God given talent of cooking by providing many meals for gatherings at the church. Her favorite gift to give others was the gift of good food. Mrs. Seaber enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, traveling, sitting in her sunroom and on her patio. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Seaber Raines (Eddie), Joan Seaber Graddick (Jimmy); and Karen Seaber Morrison (Benjie); grandchildren, Jenny Raines, Kaitlin Wilson, Jim Graddick (Kaelah), and Jarrett Wilson (Whitney); great-grandchildren, Griff Loveless, Gini Loveless, James Graddick, Callum Graddick, and Hope Wilson; and sister, Florrie Dowdey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Seaber; son, Jim Seaber; and sister, Barbara Blume Simpson.

The funeral service for Mrs. Seaber will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, December 10th, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1801 Cedar Creek Rd., Blythewood, SC 29016, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 9th, from 5 until 7 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC 29223.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Raines, Jimmy Graddick, Jim Graddick, Benjie Morrison, Jarrett Wilson, Spencer Branham.

The family would like to express a special appreciation to all those that cared for Mrs. Alta during her extended illness.
