Obituary

Althea Lee Truesdell, 77, of Columbia, passed away, Thursday, July 11, 2013. Born February 13, 1936 in Bethune, SC, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Neil and Sarah Lee Heustess Truesdell. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, and recently of Shandon United Methodist Church, Althea had a great love for serving others, and she remained active for many years giving her time to both congregations. A graduate of Newberry College and Union Theological Seminary, she worked briefly in Christian education, and later, until her retirement, she worked as a medical transcriptionist with the State Vocational Rehabilitation Board.

Survivors include her sisters, Sarah (Charles) Seastrunk, and Beck (Bill) Frazier, both of Columbia; aunt, Margaret Brinson of Bethune; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 o'clock, Monday, July 15th, 2013 at Shandon United Methodist Church, 3407 Devine St., Columbia, with the Rev. Dr. Michael L. Guffee, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. A committal service will be held at Scotch Cemetery in Bethune, SC at 12:30 o'clock with the Rev. Charles E. Seastrunk officiating. Memorials may be made to the Neil and Sarah Lee Truesdell Scholarship Fund at Presbyterian College, 503 S. Broad St., Clinton, SC, 29325, or to the charity of one's choice.
