Alva Jean "Nanny" Hardin, 83, of Columbia, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014. Mrs. Hardin was a long-standing member of Northeast Wesleyan Church in Columbia. "Nanny" was a dearly loved mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Kruk of Elgin; son, Donnie Hardin of Columbia; grandchildren, Rachel (Chris), Rhiannon, Pam (Eddie), Anna Marie, J.R. (Jennifer), Samantha (Jeffrey), D.J., Amanda (Phillip), and John; great-grandchildren, Katie, Nick, Hailey, Cody, McKenzie, Riley, Tyler, and Avri; as well as many extended family members and her beloved church family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Hardin; son, Francis E. Hardin, Jr.; an infant daughter, Betty Jo Hardin; and great-granddaughter, Emily.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hardin will be held at 3:00 Monday, March 31, 2014, at Northeast Wesleyan Church, with the Reverend Cecil Bayne officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of Columbia.
