Alvin Decker, 84, of Columbia, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Born April 25, 1930 in Scranton, PA, he was a son of the late Isaac and Estelle Decker Breymeier. Alvin served in the US Army just after World War II, and went on to work with Kaminer Heating and Air. Alvin spent most of his working life as owner and operator of Decker Heating and Air. He also worked with Columbia College's Security Department until his retirement. Alvin was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Decker; son, Milton Timothy Decker; and brother-in-law, Milton Parker. In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his sister, Bessie Hughes; and brother, Robert Decker.

The funeral service for Mr. Decker will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, June 1st, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia, with The Rev. James A. Goudelock officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
