Amy Sayoko Hatch, 30, of Columbia, died Monday, January 23, 2023. Born May 28, 1992, in Columbia, she is a daughter of Shinjiro and Tresa Dowling Hatch of Columbia.
When she was not working, Amy loved to be adventurous and live life to the fullest. Her free spirit led her on many travels. Amy enjoyed beach and river trips, swimming in the summer, and fall bonfires. She considered herself a foodie and enjoyed the many different cultures in cuisine. One her favorite meals was Sunday morning breakfast with family and friends at Rosewood Market. Amy's appreciation for music led her to be a dedicated Grateful Dead fan. She was an annual attendee of "Jerry Fest" in Five Points that is hosted by Loose Lucy's every year in October. Amy was a Buddhist and member of SGI-USA.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her sister, Susan Teru Hatch of Tucson, AZ; aunts, Gloria Green (Robert) of Columbia, Deloris Nathaniel of Columbia, and Joyce McGraw (Wilbert) of Columbia, and Delaine Tate of Columbia; uncles, Floyd Dowling of Columbia and Larry Dowling (Juliette) of Chesapeake, VA; a very special friend, Daniel Jefferson; as well as a multitude of cousins, extended family, and friends.
The memorial service for Miss Hatch will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, February 5th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
