Angela Leah Whitaker Mazurek, 63, of Columbia, died on Friday, November 14, 2025. Born in High Point, NC, on May 24, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Robert Layell and Lannie Duree Hall Whitaker.

Angela spent over thirty years working at Blue Cross – Blue Shield of Florida where she met her late husband, Michael. After starting in customer service, she worked her way up the ladder in information technology. In her free time, Angela was passionate about all things design, from gardening to interior decorating to art and even baking. She enjoyed traveling as well as spending time with her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother to both her human and canine children.

Survivors include her children, Sophia Goodchild (Cody), Jack Mazurek, and Natalie Mazurek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Mazurek; grandparents, Ernest and Clyde Hall and Edna Peace; brother, Lance Whitaker; and dogs, Sherman, Sparky, Pookie, and Chili.

The funeral service for Mrs. Mazurek will be held at 1 pm, Friday, December 12th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Burial will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will gather for visitation prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 12 pm.
