Angela Dawn Navarro, 40, of Columbia, died, Thursday, August 13, 2015. Angi was born December 6, 1974 in Newport News, VA and was a graduate of Oak Harbor High, Class of 1993. She joined the US Army in 1993 and served her country until 1995. On August 10, 2010, she graduated from Midlands Technical College with an A.S. in Nursing and was an ER nurse at Lexington Medical Center and Providence Hospital Northeast. She had a passion for motherhood and caring for others. Angi was an avid supporter of her children's extracurricular activities of soccer, ROTC, cheerleading, and orchestra. Angi attended GraceLife Church in Columbia and held a great love for God, always trusting her faith in Him. She had an excitement for life, always bringing out the best in others, and had a way of making everyone feel special. She never met a stranger.
Angi is survived by her husband of 20 years, David "Dave" Navarro; her children, David Navarro Jr., Chelsea Navarro, Jennifer Navarro (Addison) and Sylvia Porter (Robert); grandchildren, Blake Porter, Cali Porter and Alessandra McGill; her mother, Marge Applebee (Calvin) and father, Richard W. Walleman (Sandra); brothers, Ricky Walleman (Jennifer), Brian Walleman (Erin), Charles Kimberger (Trina), Joseph Kimberger (Kristin); sisters, Pamela Davidson (Mike), Peggy Watson. Angi was preceded in death by her stepmother, Brenda Walleman.
The funeral service for Mrs. Navarro will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, August 18th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock. The service of committal will be 2 o'clock Wednesday at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
