Ann Edwards Hoeing, 89, of West Columbia died on Thursday, October 20, 2022. She was the widow of William Howard Hoeing. Ann was born in Columbia, SC on March 5, 1933 and was the only child of Harlan John Edwards and Ruth Kilgo Edwards Reeder.

She was in the first graduating class at Eau Claire High School (1951) and earned a two year certificate in Commerce from Winthrop College (1953). Upon graduation, she started to work for the IRS in Columbia and completed 35 years of service in the Atlanta District office.

During her younger years in Columbia, she was active in a number of social organizations. While living in Atlanta, she was a member of the Wieuca Road Baptist Church where she met her husband.

When she returned to Columbia upon her retirement she became involved in several groups including The Women's Club of Columbia.

At the time of her death, she was a resident of the Laurel Crest Community. She is survived by her step-daughter, Melissa Wise, of Birmingham, Alabama; four step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and five first cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather, George A. Reeder and step- son, William Michael Hoeing.

The graveside service for Mrs. Hoeing will be held at 3 o'clock, Sunday, October 23rd, at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
