Obituary

Ann Shirley Magrill Diamond, 86, died on July 24, 2024. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mrs. Diamond was the daughter of the late Edward Magrill and Esther Weinzimmer Magrill. She spent her formative years in Nashville and later graduated from nearby Vanderbilt University.

Ann traveled extensively throughout Europe and South Asia. She returned to Europe in the 1960s to live in Vienna (which she loved) and to teach English. During this time, she developed a love for the German language and Austrian opera, and developed lasting friendships.

Ann also worked at the German International School in suburban Washington, D.C. from 1970-1981, and made several dear friends. In 1981, she married Marshall A. Diamond, M.D., who predeceased her in 2007. Before his death, they traveled the world together, taking several trips to New Zealand, Australia, and Hawaii.

Ann Diamond is survived by her brother & his wife, Stanley & Phyllis Magrill; two stepsons & their wives, Richard & Lisa Diamond of Marietta, GA, and Scott & Liz Diamond of S. Huntington, NY; niece, Lisa Poore; nephew, Evan Magrill; grandchildren, Joel, Sawyer, Sarah, & Mason Diamond. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Joan Felts, and her many other friends too numerous to name here in the U.S. and abroad.
