Anna May Porter, 87, of West Columbia, was born in Tamcliff, West Virginia, on July 12, 1929, to the late Greely and Callie Ellis May. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1947. Anna was married first to the late Haron Kennedy, and God blessed them with one daughter, Sharon Ann. She was also married to the late Ernest W. Porter.

Mrs. Porter was a retired bookkeeper and had been an active member of the West Columbia Church of Christ in South Carolina since February 2, 1969.

In addition to her parents, and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Kennedy Hutchinson; son-in-law, Robert Hutchinson; brothers, Carl May, Jack May; sister, Maxine Browning; and step-grandson, Justin Porter.

Mrs. Porter is survived by her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Stephen and Melissa Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Sharon Hutchinson and Brianna Morgan Hutchinson; and her sister, Janice Spence; step-children, Sherman Edward Porter and wife Glenda, Jeffrey Cole Porter and wife Carey, John Mark Porter and wife Cil, Brigadier General (Ret) Eric "Rick" Porter and wife Sally; step-grandchildren, Ashley Busbee, John Mark Porter, Casey Porter, Brandon Porter, Ericka Porter Freels, Cameron Porter, David Hutchinson, Sherilyn Hutchinson, Katarina Hutchinson, Michael Hutchinson; step-great-grandchildren, Porter, Preston, and Elle Busbee, Camdyn and Cortlyn Porter, Austin Porter and Olivia Hutchinson.

A funeral service will be held 10 o'clock, Tuesday, July 18th, at West Columbia Church of Christ, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until 7 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
