Anne-Marie Montgomery Cheek, 29, of Columbia, SC, died suddenly and unexpectedly at her parents' home. She was born on August 1, 1991, in Memphis, Tennessee. Anne-Marie attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from Midlands Technical College as an RN, number one in her class. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Anne-Marie was extremely loyal and her loving, compassionate heart led her to take challenging nursing jobs. She worked in oncology with terminally ill patients. Her current position, in the midst of COVID 19, was with ill inmates at a high security prison in Columbia.
Anne-Marie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edison Guy Cheek Sr. and Marie Montgomery Cheek; and her maternal grandparents, Guy Keith Sherman and Mary Dorr Sherman. Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Edison Guy "Ed" Cheek Jr. and Nancy Sherman Cheek, as well as many relatives and an adorable cockapoo named Emmie. We, her parents, had the privilege of walking with her through life, all the way to Heaven's door.
Good night, Beautiful Princess, Anne-Marie. See you in the morning.
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."
A memorial service for Anne-Marie will be held at a later date. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
