Anne Wimberly Bowman Wyndham, 74, of Columbia, died Monday, October 5, 2015. Born in Pinehurst, NC to Elizabeth and Edgar Bowman, she grew up in Orangeburg before settling in Columbia.

She is survived by her son, John Bowman Wyndham (Jack); and her daughter, Lara Elizabeth Wyndham Ferguson (James) all of Columbia; a sister, Caroline Eisenstein (Buddy) of Wilmington, NC; five nieces, two nephews, three grandnieces, and two grandnephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Stutzman.

Anne graduated from Columbia College in 1963 and received a Master's Degree in the teaching of mathematics from USC in 1988. Of her 31 years of teaching, the last 25 years were at Richland Northeast High School.

An active member of Shandon United Methodist Church, she sang in the Celebration and Chancel Choir. She served as the church's Seeds of Hope Coordinator for many years. Anne was a member of the church's Faith Players, head of the game committee for Tuesday's Lunch Bunch and helped with Vacation Bible School as a story teller. She also served as secretary of the Board of Directors for the Point Arcadia Condominiums. She loved playing tennis at Rockbridge Club and was never too busy to stop and play bridge with her friends. She inherited her mother's love of flowers and enjoyed arranging them in her home.

Her favorite poem, by Edna St. Vincent Millay was:
"My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But oh, my foes, and ah my friends-
It gives a lovely light."

A service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, October 10th at Shandon United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. Michael Guffee, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the Shandon United Methodist Church Music Program, 3407 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205 or to the church's garden fund. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
