Ansilee Shealy Broome, 86, of Ridgeway, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on November 24, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Brenton Shealy and Lennie Ree Crapps Shealy. She was a dedicated member of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church in Blythewood. Ansie was the loving wife of 68 years to William D. "Bill" Broome.
Ansie graduated from Eau Claire High School and later pursued a career in administration working for the State Department of Mental Health, where she retired after 30 plus years. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and puzzles. Ansie was a talented cook, known for her many "inventions" and fondly remembered for her cheesecake, coconut cake, and unique words of wisdom. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother and being a homemaker for her family. She is loved and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children, Sheron Gause (Ben), Linda Malone (Scott), and William B. "Chip" Broome (Ellen); grandchildren, Allison Kennedy (Joe), Brenton Broome (Heather), Shealy Robinson (Josh), Kevin Malone (Paige), and Austin Gause (Shelli); and great-grandchildren, Molly Gause, Liam Gause, Mason Malone, Jackson Broome, Kendall Broome, Avery Robinson, and Harper Robinson; beloved fur babies, Toby and Tipper. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by an infant sister.
The funeral service for Mrs. Broome will be held at 1 o'clock on Friday, December 23rd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 501Elmwood Ave., Columbia, SC.
