Archie "Tommy" Taylor, 59, of Columbia, died on Friday, June 4, 2021. Born November 3, 1961, in Walterboro, SC, he was a son of the late Archie Thomas Taylor, Jr. and Shirley D. Bowman Autry.

Tommy loved riding his Harley Davidson and all of his Harley friends. He took pride in participating in Veteran charity rides, especially Toys for Tots. His love for the open road extended past his motorcycle and into his professional life, as he was a commercial trucker for 33 years, having earned multiple Million Mile pins and safe driving awards. Tommy was a driver for CMC until recently when his health began to decline. Tommy loved his family above all, and he was affectionally known as "Pop a Top", as his love for Mountain Dew was no secret, especially after he named his beloved dog, Dew. He was a friend to all, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his daughter, Dana Diane Taylor (Nicholas); son, Ivan Brooks Taylor, six grandchildren; sister, Sandra Grice (Ed); brothers, Harold "Dink" Taylor and James "Marty" Taylor (Sherry); along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A funeral service for Tommy will be held 11 o'clock, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, with Pastor Mike Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veteran, 511 Violet St., West Columbia, SC 29169.
