B. R. Tillman Smith, Jr., 85, of Columbia, died Sunday, July 23, 2017. Born March 1, 1932, in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late B. R. Tillman Smith, Sr. and Myrtle Mae Minor Smith.

Mr. Smith had a charismatic personality and possessed a deep love for family and cherished his friends. He was a pilot who loved sailing and golfing. He was the owner of Tillman Smith and Company, as well as M&S Realty and Appraisal.

Survivors include daughter, Kathleen Taylor (Robert R., III); grandchildren, Ashley C. Harris (Daniel), Jonathan Nicholas Caruk, Leslie Ryan Smith, Jr., and Heather Lauren Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jerine Fincher Smith; son, Leslie Ryan Smith, Sr.; daughter, Page Elizabeth Smith; sisters, Margaret McCaskell, Lorraine Pryce and Eugenia Stokes.

The memorial service for Mr. Smith will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, July 28th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A reception will follow the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
