Babette "Betty" Dorstewitz Betterton, 90, of Pittsboro, NC and formerly of Columbia, died Sunday, June 30, 2013. Born March 9, 1923, in Augsburg, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Rudolf Dorstewitz and Paula Boellinger Dorstewitz. Betty was a former member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Katherine Potts of Pittsboro, NC; son, Frank (Cathy) Betterton of Celina, OH; grandchildren, Ethan Potts, Frank (Heather) Betterton, and Rhonda (Mike) Gross; great-grandchildren, Nick and Robbie Gross. Mrs. Betterton was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Betterton and her son, Nick Betterton.

A memorial service for Mrs. Betterton will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, July 5th at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends following the service.
