Barbara A. Blanks, 78, of Columbia, died Sunday, June 7, 2020. Born April 7, 1942 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late William P Blanks, Sr., and Meta Quattlebaum Blanks. She was a 1960 Graduate of Columbia High School and later attended classes at the University of South Carolina. Barbara retired from BellSouth with more than 25 years of service. Prior to her retirement, Barbara obtained her Real Estate and Broker's Licenses and was Broker In Charge of the Blanks Co. She enjoyed helping family members, friends, and clients find their special home.

Survivors include her daughter, Melanie H Chastain; a son, Brian H. Haas (Jennifer); grandchildren, Tyler Chastain and Chase and Skylar Haas; siblings, Brenda McDonald (Roddy), William P. Blanks, Jr. (Elaine) and Beverly Frost; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Hilda Johnson.

A private family service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. Barbara's cremated remains will be placed in a granite bench she designed just weeks prior to her death located next to her beloved grandparents. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
