Barbara T. Clackley, 81, of Jefferson, GA, formerly of Columbia, SC, entered into eternal rest March 6, 2015. Born August 3, 1933 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ethel Medlin Torrence.
She was a devout Christian who loved to sing, was a member of W.O.W., and White Rock Baptist Church. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and was a friend to everyone. She never met a stranger.
Survivors include her son, Vernon (Debra) Clackley, Jr. of Gaston, SC; daughter Rebecca (David) Rush of Jefferson, GA, with whom she made her home: grandchildren, Adam Rush, Loring (Kasey) Hanley, Erica Putnam, and Brian (Charity) Clackley; great-grandchildren, Erin, Casey, Wyatt, Kylie, Ella, Case, and Finn; and sisters, Naomi Davis, and Kay (David) Hollis of Blythewood, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Vernon B. Clackley; and by her brother, James P. Torrence.
A graveside service for Mrs. Clackley will be held at 1 o'clock, Tuesday, March 10th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Monday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia
