Barbara A. Hyatt, 77, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2012. Born September 30, 1935 in Winnsboro, SC, she was a daughter of Hester Beckham and Foster Shirley. She was a member of Grace Cathedral Church of Blythewood, SC and was an avid reader and enjoyed animals and fishing. Her family was her life and she took great joy in laughter with her grand children.
She married John T. Hyatt, Sr. of Alabama on December 8th, 1951 in Fairfield County. From that union she is survived by sons, John Jr. (Jeannie) Hyatt of Lexington, Bill (Sue) Hyatt of Blythewood, Rayford (Cindy) Hyatt of Blythewood; daughters, Linda (Bill) Matthews of Lancaster, Ruth (William) Hill of Columbia, and Elaine (Joe) Tepley of Lexington; grandchildren, Erin (Jon) Pruett, Laura Hyatt, Kristopher Hyatt, Kelly Hyatt, Amanda Bagby, Anna Bagby, Craig (Kayla) Hill, Avery Hill and Megan Tepley; great grandchildren, Schyler and Falyn Hill, MaKenzie and Joseph Wooten, Autumn Hyatt and Lily Pruett. In addition, Barbara is survived by two brothers, Reggie Beckham of Lexington and Terry Beckham of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Jackson and brothers, Raymond, Lawrence and Rod Beckham.
A celebration of Mrs. Hyatt's life will be held at 12 o'clock, Saturday, November 17, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 o'clock. Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000.
