Barbara (Faye) Coleman Kurts passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025. She was born on December 26, 1940, in Yazoo City, MS, and was the oldest daughter of the late Bobbie William Coleman and Mary Colleen Coleman. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill or Bubba) Dale Kurts.
Barbara attended high school in Yazoo City before moving to Leland, MS., and graduated from Leland High School in 1958. She attended Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, MS. She retired as a Quality Control Specialist from the IRS in 1997 and began a second career as an Executive Administrative Assistant with Just Care, retiring fully in 2015.
Barbara enjoyed gardening, crafts, watching football/basketball, and playing golf. She often played at the Columbia Country Club and then the Fort Jackson Golf Club.
Survivors include son, William (Bill) A. Kurts and his wife, Belinda Kurts, of Lexington, SC; daughter, Milinda Kurts of Franklin, TN; granddaughter, Aubree Kurts, of Denver, CO; and brother, Wayne C. Coleman, and his wife, Sue Coleman, of Saint Charles, MO.: In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William (Jeff) J. Kurts, and sister Shirley Jean Stein.
The funeral service for Mrs. Kurts will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 9:30 AM. Internment will follow at Noon at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
