Obituary

Barbara Sellers Orr, 82, of Blythewood, left the arms of her loving family and entered the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Born in Anderson County on August 27, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Horace Edwin Sellers and Paralee Orr Sellers.

In the words of her adoring husband, Sam, Barbara was his loving wife for 62 years, 9 months, and 23 days–not nearly long enough! Their love was a wondrous thing and an inspiration and encouragement to many. Barbara loved Jesus fiercely and she let everyone know that. Sam was a close second. She also deeply loved her daughters, their husbands, her grandchildren and great grandchild. She was always happy to see them and reluctant to let them leave her. They in turn loved her deeply and cherished her care, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor.

Barbara was a faithful member of Hope Baptist Church and a woman of strong and abiding faith. She treasured the time she spent reading her Bible and living out her beliefs each day. For many years she taught in her local church and invested her time in showing the love of Jesus to many children, teens, and adults. Gifted with creativity and a keen eye for beauty, she enjoyed many years working as a florist, where she lovingly created countless floral arrangements for special occasions. She also spent many hours in her garden pampering her own plants. Along with her love of flowers, she also enjoyed many years caring for children and helping to raise others just as her own.

Barbara was also well known for her love of cooking and baking. She delighted in preparing meals and sweet treats for family and friends at every opportunity. Though many requested her recipes, she famously kept them in her memory rather than written on paper.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Sam E. Orr; her daughters, Karen Wielard (Marc), Wendy Kelley (Ralph), and Andrea Koon; her grandchildren, Scott Kelley (Jaimie), Sam Orr (Alex), Jennifer Wielard, Jonathan Kelley (Molly), Bonnie Wielard, Logan Guidry (Sarah), and Jake Orr; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Josie Kelley. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Kate Sellers, brother-in-law, Cletus Mobley, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Boyd (Wilma) Sellers, Larry Sellers, Doris (Raymond) Myers, Margie Mobley, Duree (Gail) Sellers, and Leon (Dina) Sellers.

Barbara will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her servant's heart, her creative spirit, and the love she poured into her family, her church, and all who were blessed to know her.

The memorial service for Barbara will be held at 3 o'clock, Monday, February 23rd, at Hope Baptist Church, 2117 Clemson Road, Columbia, SC 29229 with Pastor Tim Murr and the Rev. Richard Humphries officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the Church beginning at 2 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
