Barbara Lee Payne Elgin, 68, of Columbia, graduated from this earth on Monday, December 15, 2014. Born in Columbia on October 12, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Ray and Wilma Counts Sweet. She will now be working alongside her Lord and Savior for eternity.

Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Elgin; her son, Michael (Kathy) Elgin; daughters, Jeannie (Don) Chafin, Debbie (Robert) Young, and Michelle (Keith) Beyer; her sister, Pam (George) Rabon; as well as fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Sweet; and grandson, Taylor Chafin.

The funeral service for Mrs. Elgin will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, December 17th at North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 North Trenholm Road, Columbia, with The Reverend R. Joseph Copeland and The Reverend Michael J. Elgin officiating. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will follow the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia.
