Barbara Richardson Smith, 80, of Columbia, died Monday, May 2, 2016. Born March 30, 1936, in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Arthur and Mildred Wells Richardson. Barbara graduated from Brookland Cayce High School, attended Gardner-Webb University and worked as a bookkeeper for Richland School District 2. She was a member of Aimwell Presbyterian Church in Ridgeway, where she directed the choir and played the piano.

Survivors include her loving husband, K.W. Smith; sons, Rev. Todd Smith (Lou) of Morganton, NC and Brad Smith (Lisa) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Warren, Wilson, Ahna and Noah Smith; sisters, Harriet Reisman of Port Jefferson, NY and Merrie Duggan of Columbia, SC.

The service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2 o'clock, Friday, May 6th, at Aimwell Presbyterian Church, with Rev. M.D. Connor and Rev. Todd Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the family residence. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
