Barbara Whitworth, widow of William C. Whitworth, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Ms. Barbara was born July 27th, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Emma and Robert Snipes of Aiken SC.

Barbara spent most of her years as owner/operator of Kemmerlin Superette located on Monticello Road in Columbia SC. She was a resident of Cedar Creek Community for almost 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Whitworth; 6 sisters, Agnus, Fannie, Polly, Mary, Brenda, and Dorothy; as well as 4 brothers, Oakley, David, Charles, and Calvin. Ms. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Jackie Mitchell (Elton), Tonya Speer (Kenny); grandchildren, Victoria Slagle (JD), Brittany Corley, Keith David (Jennifer), Lauren Fox (Robbie), David Cercopely, and Jacob Mitchell; and great grandchildren Tora, Kai, Journey, Rylan, Aiden, Avery, Caroline, Kason, Weston and Isabella; brother, Pete; along with her close family friend affectionally known as Jack-Crack.

Faith and family were the most important things in Barbara's life. She could walk into a room and her smile would light up the entire place. Her laugh was contagious, and she never met a stranger. Barbara loved her family to the core as well as anyone she considered family. She was the most loving, outgoing person you could imagine. After fighting several battles with her health, she succumbed to her death after fighting a long battle with COVID-19 and ultimately decided to come home to be with her family in her final hours. She will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life for Ms. Barbara will be held 5 o'clock, Saturday, March 13th, at 6617A Platt Springs Rd., Lexington, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel is assisting the family.
