Mrs. Beatrice Cummins Barkley, 88, of Columbia, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Born September 20, 1925, in Glen Echo Heights, MD, she was a daughter of the late Horace Edson Cummins and Vida Lois Greening Cummins.
A member of Dentsville Baptist Church, Beatrice is survived by her sons, David (Deborah) Barkley of Swansea, SC, Darryl Barkley of Columbia; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and her sister, Delores Muskovin of Cayce, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Barkley; son, Dale Barkley, Sr.; and granddaughter, Amanda Ruth.
A memorial service for Mrs. Barkley will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, March 9th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with The Rev. Jeffery T. Scott officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
