Obituary

Columbia – Beatrice Esther Weinberg, 99, of Columbia, died Sunday, December 6, 2015. Born in Detroit, MI on September 21, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Hugo and Helen Weinberger Weiss. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mrs. Weinberg was a well-known local artist who held private art showings. Many of her pieces are displayed in prominent places such as the Governor's Mansion.
Survivors include her son, Lawrence "Larry" Weinberg (Nadine); grandsons, Martin Weinberg (Anne), and David Weinberg (Christine); great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Benjamin, and Hannah. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Weinberg; sister, Margie Arnold; and nephew, Evan Arnold.
A graveside service for Mrs. Weinberg will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, December 9th, at House of Peace Cemetery, 1300 Whaley Street, Columbia, with Rabbi Jonathan Case officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hadassah, Attn: Donor services, PO Box 1100, New York, NY 10628-1100.
