Obituary
Beatrice Virginia Young Sampson, 88, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Born on October 25, 1935, in McCreary County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Young and Bertha Worley Young. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Sampson.
Beatrice will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her career as an accountant with the Civil Service. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Beatrice is survived by her children, Teresa Pietras (David) and Catherine Peters (Cal); grandchildren, Jared Pietras (Donna), Kenna Hubai (Paul), and Steven Pietras (Deirdre), granddaughter-in-law, Trish Lawton; great grandchildren, Ryan Lawton, Caden Lawton, Aidan Hubai, Lucy Lawton, Freya Pietras, Wyatt Pietras, Addison Pietras, and Weston Pietras.
In addition to her parents, Beatrice is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Sampson; grandson, Garrett Lawton; and many loving siblings.
A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
