Berry Lewis Mobley, Jr., 59, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on November 7, 1963, he was a son of Elizabeth Enecks Mobley and the late Berry Lewis Mobley, Sr.
Berry earned a bachelor's degree in Geography from The University of South Carolina. He was a true nerd to the core and has a passion for all things electronic. His love for technology led Berry to pursue a career working as a network engineer for Prisma Hospital, Seibels, and Humana. Berry was a private pilot, a ham radio operator, and scuba diver. He enjoyed singing with various choirs, reading, trains, and Legos. Berry was a kind, generous soul with a personality larger than life. His servant's heart inspired him to always take care of others, especially the homeless. He is loved and dearly missed by many.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Caroline Mobley Phifer (Daniel) and Berry Lewis Mobley III; granddaughter, Taylor Crawford Phifer; brother, Robert Enecks Mobley; nephew, Jacob Reese Mobley; loving significant other, Lori Moran Smith; and mother of his children, Harriet Lewis Mobley.
The memorial service for Mr. Mobley will be held at 11 o'clock on Wednesday, January 11th, at St. Martins in The Fields, 5220 Clemson Ave., Columbia, SC. The family will receive following the service at reception. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
