Beth Ann Obruba, 40, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Beth was the daughter of Jack Obruba and the late Kathryn Goltz Obruba. As an NCAA Division I All-American in the javelin and discus, she was inducted into the Kent State Athletics Hall of Fame. Beth was a strong and compassionate person, who deeply loved her family and friends. She was the most selfless, genuine and fiercely loyal person you would ever meet; and as a courageous fighter of cancer for five years, she never complained.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her partner, Sonya Dickey; brother, Patrick Obruba (Emmy); step-mother, Cindy Obruba; step-sisters, Ann Shipley and Amy Rath; grandmother, Ethel Goltz; nephews and nieces, Alexander, Nathaniel and Victoria Obruba, and Lydia Shipley; and many aunts, uncles and close friends.

A memorial service will be held later with the burial in Westmoreland Memorial Park, Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
