Betty Jean Ward Hagood, 71, of Blythewood, died on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Born in Columbia, SC, on August 25, 1949, she was a daughter of Millie Maples Ward and the late Curtis Eugene Ward. Betty enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting and gardening where she loved being in the presence of flowers and birds. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as "Nang" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were her greatest source of joy.

Survivors include her sons, John F. Hagood, Jr. (Missy), of Blythewood, Tom Hagood (Sheila), of Elizabethtown, NC, and Allen Hagood (Brandy), of Blythewood; grandchildren, Shelby Stewart (Ryan), Abby Hagood, John Hagood (Kennedy), Rebecca Hagood, Kinsler Hagood (Katie), Tiffany Davis (Derek); great-grandchildren, Benton, Haylee Mae, Raylan, Jennings, Raimey, London, Lincoln, and another to be born this winter; sister, Curtys Quesinberry (Danny); brothers, Billy Ward and Curtis "Corky" Ward. In addition to her father, Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, John Franklin Hagood; and an infant brother, James Cowan, Jr.

The graveside service for Mrs. Hagood will be held at 11 o'clock, Monday, June 7th, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 105 Main St, Blythewood, SC. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 until 6 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
