Betty Lou (Amerson) Horton, 82, of Columbia, died on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Born in Hartsville, SC, on January 11, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Beckham Amerson and Leland Mayes Alexander Amerson. Mrs. Horton was a graduate of Bishopville High School and spent her career in Retail Services. She had a love for animals, especially dogs. Mrs. Horton enjoyed NASCAR racing, eating at Olive Garden, watching WWE Wrestling, playing solitary and bingo.

Survivors include her sons, Kevin Michael Horton and Aaron Ernest Horton (Annette); grandchildren, Conner Horton, Allison Mabry, Steven Horton and Samantha Jones (Sam); sister, Martha Hancock; cousin, Robert Alexander; best friend, Phyllis Riley; and her beloved dogs, Julie, Howie, Barkley, Bailey, Gemma, Patches and Abby. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Horton, Sr.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Horton will be held on Saturday, August 21st, 2021, from 5 until 7 o' clock in the afternoon at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC 29223.
