Born and raised in Columbia, SC, Betty was the youngest of six children of Earle Meetz Dickert and Mamie Alexander Dickert. She attended Columbia High School. In 1948, Betty met the love of her life, Billy Huggins of Denmark, SC where they were milk producers for West End Dairy.

In 1959, she and Bill relocated to Columbia to help start and operate the family printing company, Mac Kohn Printing where she served as Executive Secretary and Bookkeeper for over 40 years.

The Lord blessed Betty with an incredible ear for music and the talent of playing the piano and organ. She served the Lord with the immense talent He blessed her with as an outpouring of her strong Christian faith, serving as pianist and organist at Ghents Branch Baptist Church in Denmark, SC and Bayview Baptist Church in Columbia for over 60 years. She enjoyed spending time at the "Homeplace" in Denmark, chicken salad trips with her daughter and nieces, she loved seeing the ocean and enjoyed vintage Hollywood movies and movie stars. Above all, Betty was committed to the Lord Jesus, and the love and devotion of her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends that were her family.
