Betty Joyce Whaley Humphries, 84, of Blythewood, died Thursday, January 30, 2014. Born in Abbeville, South Carolina on December, 2, 1929, Betty was the daughter of the late Herbert Ashley and Marie Barnett Hall Whaley. Betty was a very active member of Sandy Level Baptist Church where she volunteered her time teaching Sunday school and serving the Women's Ministry.

Betty is survived by her sons, Donald (Bobbie) Humphries, Larry Humphries, all of Columbia, Randy Humphries of Apex, NC, Herbert (Donna) Humphries of Saluda, NC, Dennis (Sol) Humphries of Blythewood; grandchildren, Susan Thompson, Robin,
Michael, Trevor, April, David, and Ellajoyce Humphries; great-grandchildren, Brandon Thompson and Grady Humphries. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Mr. Eddie Milton Humphries; as well as two brothers, both dying in infancy.

A Funeral service for Mrs. Humphries will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, February 2, at Sandy Level Baptist Church, with The Reverend Dr. Stephen Gantt officiating. The Family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Sandy Level Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 518, Blythewood, SC 29016.
