Betty Jeanne Jones Huguley, 92, of West Columbia, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023. Born in Edgefield, South Carolina on April 26, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Idus and Alice Sutton Jones. Betty was the loving wife to the late Bobby L. Huguley, Sr. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina since 1955.

Betty graduated from Edgefield High School in 1949. She attended Bessie Tift College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in music, from Furman University in 1953. Betty was a professional piano teacher for both children and adults until her retirement. She was a member of the Columbia Music Teachers Association, a certified teacher with the South Carolina Music Teachers Association, the Music Teachers National Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Betty enjoyed attending the Morning Music Club and Rotary Book Club of Columbia.

Survivors include her children, Bobby L. Huguley Jr. (Marsha) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Claude Huguley (Nancy) of Nashville, TN, and Alice Tracy (Tom) of Blythewood, SC; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ginny Huguley.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Right at Home and Lighthouse Hospice for their compassionate care in Betty's final days.

The funeral service for Mrs. Huguley will be held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, June 27th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. Burial will take place at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.
