Betty J. Kinard, 84, of Columbia, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Born November 5, 1930 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Alver Calvin and Gladys Louise Robinson Kinard. A member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, she was an avid gardener, birdwatcher and sports enthusiast. She was a friend to everyone and loved her church.

Survivors include her brother, AC Kinard of Charlotte, NC; sister, Ann (June) Hutto of Lexington; nephews, Andy and Dickson Hutto; nieces, Lillian McIntyre, and Laura Opalka.

A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, September 19th at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. James W. Thompson, III and The Rev. Todd Horton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
