Obituary

Betty Blume Lomas, 95, went to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Born in Columbia, SC, on May 11, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Allie Richard and Janie Mattox Blume. Mrs. Lomas was a charter member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW and the annual Country Store. Her career was spent as a homemaker and later in life working as a bookkeeper for Richland School District Two. Known for her wonderful cooking and baking skills, Mrs. Lomas will be remembered for her delicious pies and cakes. Her grandchildren were special to her, and she never missed an opportunity to support them. Annual trips were spent at the Beach during the summer and in the mountains in the fall where she could often be found apple, peach or strawberry picking. Mrs. Lomas loved to entertain and invite people into her home and there were many Sunday afternoons spent playing Canasta over a breakfast-for-dinner meal that included homemade waffles. Flowers and the outdoors were another joy of her life; she loved to fish, occasionally hunt and tend to her flowers.

Survivors include her daughters, Bobbie Bailey (Don) and Pamela Lomas Gill (Paul); grandchildren, Eric Bailey, Amanda Perry (Robby), and Meredith Gill Lacaze (Turner); great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Bailey, Bailey Young, Avery Perry, Hunter Perry, Bryson Perry; sisters, Frances Forrest and Doris Stroman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Coke Lomas, Jr.; and siblings, Maxine Able, Buddy Blume, James Blume, Laura Goff, Robert Blume and Clyde Blume.

The funeral service for Mrs. Lomas will be held at 3 o'clock, Sunday, February 22nd, at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church, 9203 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC 29203 with the Rev. JT Brown officiating.
