Mrs. Betty Jean Pardue, 76, of Elgin, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Born December 6, 1935 in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Silas Lewis and Viola Sanders Lewis.
Fondly known as "Little Bit", she was a collector of Betty Boop memorabilia. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family, which included her two dogs, Angel and Boomer. Betty retired from Hallmark Greeting Cards and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William D. Pardue; sons, David Wayne Poarch of Elgin, Jeffrey Lee (Felicia) Poarch of North, SC, Aaron Eugene (Sue) Poarch of Beaverton, OR, Jimmy Ray (Geraldine Zukov) Poarch of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Amanda Kay Ellison, Anita Poarch, Gary Poarch, and Katherine Poarch; and sister, Vera Elizabeth Dean of Greenville, SC. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, William Poarch; and ten siblings.
The funeral service for Mrs. Pardue will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, November 3rd, at Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookie Doo Lane, Elgin, with The Rev. Dan Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:30 o'clock, Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia. The family also welcomes friends to call following the viewing at their home, 109 Friar St, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Betty J.
