Betty Jean Randle, 82, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 11, 2018, after a recent battle with cancer. She was a daughter of the late John Robert Wright and Mary Wright and was born in Rock Hill, SC on October 23, 1935. Her life was a love of family whether raising her four children or spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had many years of special relationships with friends and an extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. In recent years, she was remarried to Mr. Carl Scalf and she truly enjoyed his companionship and their time together. His dedication to her and her family is especially appreciated.
The family is very thankful for the loving care provided by the hospital and hospice staff on the eighth floor at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital.

Betty was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, John Carl Randle, Sr. She is survived by her children: Dixie R. Bodie (Ed), Victoria R. Frye, John C. Randle Jr. (Norma) and Joseph D. Randle (Vickie); her grandchildren: David Bodie (Natalie), Renee Goldfinch (Stephen), Summer Randle, Christian Randle, and her great-grandchildren: Reese Bodie, Ryan Bodie, Hadlee Goldfinch, Stephen Goldfinch III, Patrick Outen, Mya Porter and Maurice Porter.

A service celebrating her life will be held Friday, January 19th, at 12:00 pm at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
